If you like to feel a touch of nature in your home and are a flower lover, check out these tips for growing indoor plants. Although each plant requires special conditions and care, the tips that we have prepared for you are valid for all those who grow indoor plants.
You may belong to those who grow even demanding plants without any problems, but if you are in the other group of flower lovers who have no luck with the same, apply the advice of experienced florists. Soon your apartment will be filled with greenery and delicate floral aromas. Growing plants will not be complex when you arm yourself with knowledge and patience.
Obtain Real Information
Before you go to the flower shop, find out what your plants like. Not every plant likes bright space or frequent watering. Choose those that will please the conditions in your apartment, such as temperature and amount of light. This certainly does not have to be an obstacle, because now there are special LED lights suitable for growing cannabis and other plants. Do not hesitate to ask the seller for advice. It is important that you know exactly where the plant will stand. Will it beautify a dining table, a bookshelf, or an empty corner next to a corner sofa? Don’t just buy randomly, but think about what kind of space you want.
Find an Adequate Pot
A plant needs a certain amount of space to grow. However, even there, one should be careful. Some flowers like their roots to be compact, while for others, a large, spacious pot is ideal. If the plant is a perennial, you will probably need to repot it at some point to prevent it from wilting due to lack of space. Take care not to damage the roots.
Water Plants Properly
Ask yourself how you should water it. Some of them do not grow in the ground and are not watered at all, but only submerged so that the aerial roots absorb water.
In order to avoid rotting, before watering, check whether it is necessary at all. If the soil below the surface layer is sticky and wet, postpone watering for another day. The frequency of watering depends not only on the type of plant but also on the season, temperature, and air humidity, as well as the amount of sunlight… The unwritten rule is that in the summer, flowers need a little more water than in the cold months.
Be well equipped. Use the appropriate tools for maintaining houseplants. Watering with a long hose is essential to reduce the amount of dust, as well as in the fight against pests and diseases. A small and long rake and scissors are great for accessing difficult areas, while a sponge attached to a long handle will keep glassware clean.
You should not blindly follow the instructions given. Daily watering is probably not necessary, but that doesn’t mean you should forget about the plant in the meantime. Fallen petals, yellow leaves, or dry soil indicate that something needs to be changed. The sooner you discover a problem, the more likely you are to solve it.
For example, many people do not want to buy food because they think that it is just an unnecessary item in the budget and that the plant can grow well without it. This is not true. Some species in nature thrive in extremely poor conditions, but there are also those that will not give their best without additional fertilizer, so monitor your plant and manage it accordingly.
Aspirin is the best tool for strengthening potted flowers. Dissolve one 300 mg tablet in a liter of water and spray the plant with it.
Allow the herbs to rest during the winter period and move them to a cooler location. This is because most plants are hibernating during this period, so they don’t need as much sunlight. You should also reduce the amount of water and food you provide to the plant, as this can help prevent diseases such as mold and root rot. Move the plants away from the window, as it will be too cold for them during the winter.
Protection From Pesticides
Believe it or not, matchsticks protect the plant from flies and other small pests. At the edge of the pot, at a distance of 5 cm, stick the match heads into the ground. Then water the plant. After two days, replace the match with a new one. In the next 2 days, you will see that your flowers are free from persistent pests.
To protect against fungus, use copper coins, placed in the ground around the plant. For example, copper acts on fungal spores, and they will disappear in a short time.
Hopefully, these tips were of help to you and that you will use them to easily maintain your indoor plants. Do not forget to treat them with love first of all, because it has been proven that plants feel and react to emotions.
